Da wir zurzeit eine kleine Diskussion in der deutschen
Lolitacommunity haben, ob Steampunk Lolita eine eigene Kategorie in der Galerie
bekommen soll und da ich diejenige war, die danach gefragt hat, dachte ich,
dass euch das Thema vielleicht auch interessieren würde.
Als meine Leser und da mein Blogtitel Ruffles and Steam ist
(was für Lolita und Steampunk steht), wisst ihr bestimmt, dass ich beide Stile
total gerne mag und sie auch gerne kombiniere. So wie mir, geht es auch anderen
Lolitas. Schaut euch einfach mal bei daily_lolita die Outfits unter dem
#steampunk tag an.
Nun, die deutsche Lolitagemeinschaft hat keine solche
Kategorie und ich finde wir brauchen eine ebensolche, weil es bereits einige
sehr gute Steampunk Lolita Bilder in der Galerie gibt, die allerdings sehr
schwer ausfindig zu machen sind, weil sie in anderen Kategorein gespeichert
sind, wo sie eigentlich nicht hingehören.
Ich denke, dass Steampunk und Lolita sehr einfach zu
kombinieren sind, da beide ihre Inspiration aus dem Viktorianischen bekommen
und eine ähnliche Ästhetik haben. Ich weiß, dass einige Lolitas „ein Problem“
mit Steampunk haben, weil viele Steampunks versuchen, eine Rolle zu spielen (als
Kapitän, als Pilot, als Mechaniker, als Wissenschaftler, …) und Lolita ist eben
übers nicht verkleiden, sondern man selbst zu sein. Ich kann das zwar
nachvollziehen, aber für mich ist es ein Unterschied einfach nur Steampunk zu
tragen, oder Steampunklolita. Wenn ich Steampunk trage, bin ich z.B. die
Navigatorin unserer Luftschiffcrew de Loryva. Wenn ich Steampunk Lolita trage,
nehme ich nur die Ästhetik und einige Elemente des Steampunk und bin trotzdem
ich selbst in Steampunklolita, weil ich es mag, so auszusehen.
(Was nicht heißt, dass ich nicht auch „eine Rolle spielen“
kann im Steampunk Universum während ich Lolita trage. Aber ich denke, dass ist
ein bisschen so, als ob man Lolita an Halloween trägt.)
Zusätzlich dazu wurde gesagt, dass Steampunk eine Art Kostüm
ist, was in einigen Aspekten auch zutreffen mag (siehe oben: Kapitän, Pilot,
Mechaniker, Wissenschaftler…), aber Steampunk ist so viel mehr als die
Kleidung: Es ist eine Literaturgattung, eine Lebensart, eine Art von Filmen,
etc. wie ich weiter oben schon schrieb: ich nehme nur einige dieser Aspekte und
die Ästhetik für meine Steampunk Lolitaoutfits.
Um ehrlich zu sein: ich denke es ist wie bei den regenbogenfarbenen
Perücken und Hasenohren in Sweet Lolita,
oder den Vampirzähnen, die man manchmal bei Gothic Lolita sieht (was für mich
auch nach Kostüm aussieht ^^‘): Man möchte kein Hase sein, oder ein Vampir,
aber man mag die Ästhetik.
Ich hoffe wirklich, dass die deutsche Lolita Community bald
eine Steampunk Lolita Kategorie einführt, um all die tollen Outfits zu teilen!
Ich habe schon von einer Menge anderer Lolitas gehört, die gerade ein Steampunk
Lolita Outfit planen und ich bin wirklich gespannt davon Fotos zu sehen!

Since we’ve got a little discussion in the
German lolita community if we should include a Steampunk Lolita category in the
comm’s gallery (the biggest German Lolita community is mostly focused on
photos) and since I was the one who asked for it, I thought you might also be
interested in this discussion.
As my readers and as the title of my blog is ruffles
and steam (which stands for Lolita and Steampunk) you might know, that I like
both styles a lot and that I also like to combine them both. As I noticed,
there are also a lot of other lolitas who do the same. You can just go to
daily_lolita and look at the outfits saved under the #steampunk tag.
Well, the German Lolita community does not have
such a category and I think we really need one, because we already have some
really good Steampunk Lolita pictures in the gallery which can’t be found
easily because they have no own category and are saved in other categories
where they don’t really fit in in my opinion.
I think Lolita and Steampunk are really easy to
combine because both take their inspiration from the Victorian era and have a
similar aesthetic. I know some lolitas have “a problem” with Steampunk Lolita
because a lot of Steampunks try to play a role (as captain, as pilot, as
engineer, as scientist…) and Lolita is all about not acting but being yourself.
I really can understand that, but for me it’s something different to wear
clearly Steampunk or Steampunk Lolita. If I wear Steampunk I am the navigator
of our airship crew de Loryva. If I wear Steampunk Lolita I only take the
aesthetic and elements from Steampunk and am myself in Steampunk lolita because
I like looking like that.
(Which does not mean that I can’t also “play a
role” in the Steampunk universe while wearing my Steampunk Lolita dresses, but
that’s a bit like wearing Lolita for Halloween I believe.)
In addition to that, it was said, that
Steampunk is some kind of costume which is true in some aspects (read above:
pilot, captain, scientist…) but Steampunk is a whole lot more than the clothes:
It’s a kind of literature, it’s a way of living, it’s a style of films, etc. As
I said above I only take those aspects and aesthetics into my Lolita outfits.
And to be true, I believe it’s like those
entire rainbow colored wigs and bunny ears in sweet Lolita, or the vampire
fangs sometimes in gothic Lolita (which also looks like costumery to me): you
don’t want to be a bunny or a vampire but you like the aesthetic.
I really hope the German Lolita community
admits the Steampunk category to share all those great outfits! I heard from a
lot of other lolitas, that they are interested in Steampunk Lolita and are
planning an own outfit. I’m really looking forward to them!
